This wasn't discussed? Mannanan51, it started out as the 'Seven Deadly Sins' template, and then this was the last edit before it became something else related to the Catholic church. Shouldn't there be two different templates extracted from the present template, the original 'Seven Deadly Sins' template and this newer reworked concept? Prudence

I hope that I am exercising prudence by making this comment before editing! I see that this is a fairly popular template, and I did not wish to cause a disturbance by changing anything radically. Now, the list of seven virtues in the template reflects Prudentius's list of heavenly virtues enumerated in a lower section of the article on the seven virtues, except in that, where the poet has Industria (or Diligence) as the tonic virtue to Acedia (Sloth), we have Prudence--mutually exclusive of Sloth in most cases, surely, but not, strictly speaking, its virtue-counterpart. Would anyone mind if Prudence were exchanged for Industria? Perhaps, to avoid confusion, it would be prudent to specify that the "seven virtues" on the template are taken from Prudentius; then, perhaps, the cardinal & theological virtues could be noted somehow on the template as together constituting the seven virtues more prominently displayed in the article of that name. Latin

@Randy Kryn: You claim that Latin names create template clutter. However, Latin has been the official language in a long time of the Catholic Church, and it is still certainly omnipresent i the orginal sources of the subjects that this template covers. While English and other translations are often very accurate, they are still also manytimes no less than approximate. Take for instance "caritas". In most cases, sure, original Latin wording or translations would be an overkill in an template like this. However, with previous arguments, I advocate leaving the Latin words for a reference and etymological background, that the reader might self distinguish according to language knowledge. They were unlinked and added on as italicized latin forms of the linked terms. I guess I'm not understanding why they are needed. And please address the first section of this talk page, maybe the best solution is to 'extract' the original template from this version, complete with an image of angels (?), of the related topics. Change from Catholic to Christian, deletion of virtues?

After changing this template from "Catholic" to "Christian virtue ethics", Tahc deleted the virtues list. Why did you do that, please? Chicbyaccident (talk) 23:12, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

The virtue list was still linked in the in the template heading. Maybe you will like it better with this change. tahc ^chat 02:45, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

Love / Charity

Not my area of expertise, but the page Charity (Christian virtue) is listed as “Love” in the navbox. It seems that it should either be listed as “Charity”, or the page for Charity should list love as an alternate or prominent name for the virtue. — HTGS (talk) 23:12, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
