This actually needs to be added to the documentation page, which isn't protected. But I've done that anyway. Danger High voltage! 20:52, 22 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

The flagicon for Korea should be the Flag of Reunification

edit

Currently, the flagicon for Korea is the Flag of the Korean Empire ( ). Why isn't it the Flag of Reunification (white with the blue peninsula)? The current one is too close to the RoC's one. I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to ask.--Adûnâi (talk) 14:30, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

The Korean Empire flag is correct, since it was the last flag of a unified Korean state, which this template is supposed to represent. – Illegitimate Barrister (talkcontribs), 21:48, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I would like to request an edit to remove remove the Korea flag variant 1893 from the template: The flag is not supported by a WP:RS source and is not an accurate depiction of the historic Korean flag.

Copypasting my explanation from Talk:Joseon#Changing Flag of Joseon:

The flag that is in use for the 1893 Korean flag variant is currently File:Flag of Korea (1893).svg. The source that is listed on the Wikimedia Commons page for said file has a couple of problems:

1. The actual flag is not found on that website. I went through previous versions of the website on the Wayback machine, but there were 10+ years of history and I was unable to find the original file.

2. The file/source is not an academic source. The flag seems to be from a flag-posting blog. I do not believe it meets WP:RS requirements.

There are multiple competing versions of the Taegeukgi floating around on Wikipedia Commons, so I consulted the Korean National Archives: [1] [2]

The version currently in use for the 1893 flag variant is not represented. The closest resemblance would be the Owen N. Denny Taegeukgi (found on link 2 above), but the Taegeuk spiral is in the opposite direction. MetropolitanIC (💬|📝) 06:32, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Still researching this – one confusing part is your The actual flag is not found on that website. (source on Commons) I found the flag on that website very quickly. And I've seen that source many times while editing these pages. It is used as a reliable source for many of these country flags. So we need to know more about where you are getting your information, because so far it does not seem to be consistent with the existing source.
