Dispenser's tools domain

edit

Unfortunately, homenet is home to a squatter now :-(. Please change dispenser.homenet.orgtoolserver.org which'll redirect to the proper domain. — Dispenser 20:48, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Replace | 4 = Earwig's Copyvio Detector with | 4 = | 2 }}|Earwig's Copyvio Detector . This allows DYK reviewers to get copyvio detector results with one click, without having to paste the page name again once they reach the tool. I have tested this in the template sandbox and it works. feminist (talk) free Hong Kong 03:53, 12 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

QPQ check filled in automatically?

edit

When this template appears at a nomination subpage, it'd be helpful to have the QPQ check tool go directly to the page for the nominator, rather than the blank form. So e.g. for a nomination I make it should go to https://betacommand-dev.toolforge.org/reports/logs/dyk/Sdkb.html rather than just https://betacommand-dev.toolforge.org/cgi-bin/dyk.py. This could be determined by looking at the editor who created the subpage. Sdkbtalk 05:43, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Made relevant query here. Sdkbtalk 23:05, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
The current link should be https://qpqtool.toolforge.org/qpq/Sdkb. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:56, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please make the changes at Template:DYK tools/sandbox to this template to action the request above :) (To complete the request fully, the canges at Module:NewDYKnomination/sandbox will also need to be made to Module:NewDYKnomination) Sohom (talk) 13:53, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I made the change to the template. I haven't touched the module yet because (a) it's only semi-protected, and (b) I can't see any test cases for this change — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:20, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
For the record, I had tested the change in preview mode in my sandbox. I've made a public test for the change at User:Sohom_Datta/sandbox :) Sohom (talk) 16:13, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've made the required change. Sohom (talk) 16:13, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Regrettably, this change has caused the DYK tools box to appear on every individual nomination created after that change and transcluded on the WP:DYKN and WP:DYKNA pages. The box should only appear when the page is viewed individually. Until this behavior is fixed, please revert the change; it's annoying to have the dozens of boxes appearing on the nominations page, and we are right around the point where we're breaking the PEIS limit on the nominations page, thanks in part to this excess of boxes (along with an excess of unapproved nominations). Pinging Sohom and MSGJ. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:45, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have reverted the change to the module. Can you confirm if this fixed it? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:53, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
All four of the nominations made since 16:53 do not have the issue; as best I can tell, this has fixed it. I also did a manual edit to one of the affected nominations, replacing the DYK tools line with the original DYK conditions line used previously, which eliminated the box from that nomination. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BlueMoonset (talkcontribs)
Ah shoot this seems to be a side-effect of replacing the DYK conditions template. Sorry for breaking DYK, I should have taken that edge case into account :( @MSGJ I do still want to implement this, any way I can test for this behavior (PEIS) without literally transcluding the template on T:TDYK? Sohom (talk) 02:58, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
The correct method is to use template sandboxes. You could make a copy of T:TDYK in your userspace and do your testing there — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:35, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've done some debugging and I'm fairly certain I've fixed the issue (missing noincludes was the answer). Crossing my fingers in the hopes that nothing breaks :) Sohom (talk) 17:05, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please make the following changes. Betacommand's tools have been down due to the Grid Engine migration and qpqtool (which I wrote yesterday after it was reported at WT:DYK by @Narutolovehinata5) can be used instead.

* QPQ check
+
* QPQ check

Please sync Template:DYK tools/sandbox/styles.css to Template:DYK tools/styles.css. The changes fix the rendering of the toolbox header in dark mode. Sohom (talk) 14:05, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

That is giving a warning:
Warning: Expected (<color>) but found 'var(--background-color-neutral , #eaecf0)'. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:58, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
That should be fine. I think Code editor is having some issues parsing the CSS variables syntax, however, the rest of the backend should be able to handle the syntax just fine. Sohom (talk) 17:52, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I put it into jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator and it resolved to
.dyk-tools .sidebar-title {
:::background-color : #eaecf0;
:::border : #a2a9b1 solid 1px;
:::}
so it seems the var(--background-color-neutral bit was ignored? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:03, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
var(--background-color-neutral, #eaecf0) means use the value of the custom property --background-color-neutral if given or else the backup value #eaecf0. Since the custom property wouldn't be defined in jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator, that doesn't seem unexpected. SilverLocust 💬 18:03, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
What @SilverLocust said, also it looks like they have defined a fallback for very old browsers as well :) Sohom (talk) 03:06, 5 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm seeing black text on a black background in the box header in dark mode. See Template:Did you know nominations/St. Anne's Church, Moxi in dark mode, or this other DYK page in forced dark mode. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:41, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Replaces manual word/character counter with one that analyzes charachters of prose using the same algorithm as the the DYKcheck script.

Change Character count to Character count ~Darth StabroTalk  Contribs 19:58, 10 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Darth Stabro Are you sure about the second link ? I don't think leads to a tool? Sohom (talk) 01:35, 12 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
User:Sohom Datta Whoops - Character count. I proposed this at Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Toolbox_entry_domain_expired but no one responded, I was hoping someone would have by now. Hold off for a moment on doing this, please. ~Darth StabroTalk  Contribs 01:48, 12 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
