suggestions

edit

Is there a way to change this template to clarify that the person adding it should NOT remove the dletion tag? I can't find the text/code for that in the template. Thanks! Avraham 08:03, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Still new?

edit

The "Please note:" at the top of this page refers to a "new" template. Is an update of that note in order? (SEWilco 05:10, 20 December 2006 (UTC))Reply

Instructions

edit

There should be usage instructions so people don't have to read the template code to know how to use it. (SEWilco 05:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC))Reply

Delete this template?

edit

I've had several admins remove this tag from articles because, in short, they say its use isn't permitted. Is this an outlaw template? Should it be deleted? If not, then what exactly is its appropriate use? Rklawton 15:13, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I've nominated it here. --NMChico24 01:41, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • I don't think you guys understand.. the use of this template is not "outlawed" at all, but rather if you use it you still have to note what part of WP:CSD it falls under, manually, rather than using a specific template. -- Ned Scott 02:04, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
      • I agree that this template is not outlawed, however it is superfluous and normally used for inappropriate purposes. Every single CSD guideline has a corresponding template, so use of this template is completely unnecessary. --NMChico24 02:06, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
        • I found out about this because of my uses of it today, all of which cited a reason on WP:CSD. A great deal of editors use {{db|reason}} for simplicity, as well as several other deletion instructions. This is something to bring up on WP:CSD before taking the template to WP:TFD. -- Ned Scott 02:17, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
        • It's ridiculous that every single CSD has some archanely named template. Life's too short to try and remember all those weird names like 'db-band'. Also, it's redundant to put the reason in two places, and fairly reasonable to just use {{d}} and place the reason in the edit summary. --Mysidia (talk)

Delete

edit

I'm in favor of deletion. Talk pages are allowed in the case where the serve to assist in the creation of a better article on a notable subject. They assist greatly in the creation of new articles. Mathiastck 15:16, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hehe oops I think I'm on the wrong talk pages. Mathiastck

Why not include instructions on how to use this template?

edit

Why doesn't the template page include an explanation of how to use this template??? It took me almost an hour to find that the reason must be enclosed within "no wiki" and "/nowiki" tags. -mbeychok 03:47, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

nowiki tags aren't required... -- Ned Scott 06:28, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

"db"

edit

Ok, that bothers me for too long, anyone knows what "db" stands for? I assume the D is for Deletion, but B? -- lucasbfr talk 08:20, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template not working properly

edit

I have just used this template, but it is not working properly. It is displaying "NO REASON GIVEN" when I had entered a reason:

Ta. --Mais oui! 06:42, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

You need to add "1=" to the reason to have it display. I'm making a modification where it shows additional documentation to describe this. It looks like this:
