Suggestions
editIn my opinion, this sidebar is a bit of a mess to navigate and should be cleaned up. Other sidebars, imo, are much easier to navigate. I would recommend removing the section for "neighborhoods", since that is already included in the Ethnicity in New York City template that goes at the bottom of articles (a nicer, quieter place for it). No other ethnic sidebar for any other city lists neighborhoods. I think it's clunky and distracting. I would also suggest removing all links that don't actually link to a full article. I dislike using that sidebar because half of its just redirects and it makes it more difficult to find full articles. I'd rather not going about clicking away at the collapsible options and then clicking further away at various non-articles. Anyway, those are just a few suggestions I thought I'd toss out into the wind to be mulled over. Be well everyone. Cheers. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 04:49, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
- Seams resonable to me.★Trekker (talk) 06:10, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
- It didn't seem reasonable to another editor, so the sprawling, clunky, and unreadable previous format has been restored. Oh well. I'm stepping aside and leaving it as is. Tried to neaten it up, but I'm wiping my hands clean of this. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 04:29, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
Confusing
edit@User:Castncoot, I'm confused as to why you have included so many links that don't seem to lead anywhere productive. Why doesn't the link for African-Americans actually lead to the "African Americans in New York City" article? Why are there redundant links, such as one link for "Little Brazil" and a second link for "Brazilians" that leads to the same exact page? Why is there a link for "Central Americans" that only leads to the main page for Central America? And why include links for the Cuban-, Pakistani-, and Sri Lankan-American main pages...that have nothing in particular to do with New York City. It strikes me as unnecessary and confusing clutter and it's disagreeable to navigate. Trying to understand the idea behind these inclusions. Thanks. Be well. - I understand your point. We just don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. But two caveats to remember- 1) NYC has far more of these ethnic neighborhoods than any other city. 2) Even regarding the links that don't lead to freestanding articles, there is usually (and unsurprisingly) a significant NY presence involved in the destination articles. Maybe we should italicize the ones that don't have a free-standing article. Somebody had actually done that in the past, and I think it worked well. Castncoot (talk) 02:05, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
