Template talk:German citizenship and immigration
Creation of the template
editI created this template because there are a lot of related pages on immigration to Germany that I think would benefit from being listed in one place. I checked the five criteria listed in WP:SIDEBAR and believe they all apply to this topic. Anyone who has ideas on other pages to add to the sidebar, please help out - but I'd caution against overdoing it. If it becomes too long, it'll become unwieldy and hard to read. For example, I wouldn't list any of the specific ethnic group pages (e.g. Turks in Germany), simply because there are far too many. The same goes for sub-topics of the expulsion of Germans from Central and Eastern Europe (e.g. Expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia). Lastly, I know two of the links I included – Freedom of Movement and EU Blue Card – aren't Germany-specific but rather apply to the entire EU. I still think it makes sense including these items since they are among the most significant avenues of immigration to Germany today. But I'm open to having my mind changed – if people find it confusing to list them along with the Germany-specific items, by all means take them out.
I used the Immigration to the United States sidebar template as a starting point in creating this template, but ended up removing several sections like "Legislation" that don't have many dedicated pages on the English Wikipedia. --Tserton (talk) 01:19, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
