Latest comment: 17 years ago by Howard the Duck in topic Would love to see the following optional parameters
The templates are used to create a list of team rosters of the professional basketball teams:
Documentation
edit{{Hoops team start}}
edit- Place this at the start of each roster.
Apply this template ONLY to each and every roster member.
- pos = Basketball position. Use either C, G, F, PG, SG, and SF
- pos2 = Use this for secondary position of the player (i.e. if a player is a combo guard, use "PG" for "pos" and "SG" for "pos2"; you can also simply use "G" in "pos" without using "pos2".
- no = Jersey number.
- country = Country of the player. You can use any convention (IOC, ISO, full name).
- name = Name of the player.
- note = Notes such as team captain, injured, rookie, etc.
- school = College or school of the player.
{{Hoops team mid}}
edit- Add this if you'd want to have 2 columns.
- headcoach = Name of the head coach.
- country = Country of the head coach. You can use any convention (IOC, ISO, full name).
- assistants = Assistant coach/es. You can prefix {{flagicon}} before each name. (Optional)
- legend = The letters or symbols used in the roster list, such as (C) for captain, for injured players, etc.
- otherlabel = Add this for other staff members such as govenor, general manager, etc. This will display the position of the person/s.
- others = The name/s of the person/s holding the position stated at "otherlabel".
- teamname = Name of the team. If left blank, it'll display the article name.
- Add this at the end of each roster.
Discussion
editYou know if you hadn't added the two-column feature it would be easy to make these tables sortable. — CharlotteWebb 02:15, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I dunno, I just emulated the football squad templates. If there's a way it could be done without screwing up pages it'll be great. Besides I think it may work if there's only one column. --Howard the Duck 05:53, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Actually the reason two columns would suck is because they would sort separately rather than as a whole. Also I was thinking about adding height and weight to the rows, which would make them wider and less conducive to a two-column format. — CharlotteWebb 06:42, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I actually tried adding the sortable element but it'll screw up with {{Hoops team footer}}. --Howard the Duck 06:54, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- That would work better as a separate table below the actual roster, I think. Or to the right, but not part of the areas being sorted. — CharlotteWebb 06:57, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I tried using {{end box}} and {{start box}} right after {{Hoops team footer}} but it didn't screw up, it just needs a little formatting to make it work. However I'm concerned if the roster list is very long, it'll leave a lot of white space at the right side of the monitor, and it can be fixed by having 2 columns (although I have a big monitor so I won't know the case for smaller ones). How about having a fixed width for one column but it automatically goes to the 48%-1%-48% convention when it's split? --Howard the Duck 07:08, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Would love to see the following optional parameters
editWould it be possible to add the following parameters?
- dob date of birth
- height_ft height feet
- height_in height (inches)
- height_m height (meters)
- weight_lbs weight (pounds)
- weight_kg weight (kilograms)
there are conversion templates to do height and weight. there is a very poorly named template out there doing something very similar to this one: {{Player2}}. Check it out. Rolando 05:58, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- You can it between player and school... but I'm too lazy to do that and it might screw up... --Howard the Duck 05:59, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I will give it a shot. I will need to make some additional parameters in the header template to show the columns, and then show them. I have confidence. Let me know how I break it! :-) Rolando 17:23, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ugh. What fun. There is now too much white space and I can't figure it out. If you want, you can revert this. I do think the changes to {{Hoops team footer}} are improvements. They make it more flexible. Rolando 01:52, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- It took me hours to figure this one out, good luck on this. --Howard the Duck 02:14, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

- The template is screwed up. However, I'm too dumb on how to fix it. The gaps should be removed so that they'll stretch vertically for only 100 pixels. --Howard the Duck 13:10, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I think it is good now. Let me know if/where there are problems, and I will try to address them. Thanks! Rolando 17:13, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's largely fixed but I don't why FIBA Asia Championship 2007 squads is still screwed up... --Howard the Duck 17:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
