FN template redesign
editAs I write this, this seems to be a little-used template: only 14 legitimate transclusions. In order to make it more suitable for every First Nation across Canada (because I, for one, have some plans to include it in more articles), I've made some changes.
- Instead of automatically displaying "Ethnicity First Nation band" in bold at the top of every box, I've turned the ethnic "group" parameter into a "people" parameter and relegated it to the body. Most First Nations' official names already include some variant of "First Nation", so it was redundant.
- Band number has been moved to a subtitle.
- There seemed to be some confusion about how briefly to fill out the "location" parameter across the 14 existing transclusions, so I've replaced it with a hopefully more clear "headquarters" and "province" parameter.
- The confusion: currently used locations include "Alberta", "Bruce Peninsula, Ontario", and "Vancouver Island, Discovery Islands, mainland British Columbia".
- The label automatically switches to "Territory" if a territory's name is used.
- Added "map" parameter, freeing up the main image slot for official insignia.
- Added "treaty" parameter, important in most of the West, at least.
- Replaced "council_size" with more versatile "council" parameter.
- Added "website" parameter.
I'll be cleaning up the 14 articles these changes will break. With any luck, this template will have many more transclusions a year from now.
Language
editJust discovered this infobox. Would it be possible to add a "language" parameter? Yuchitown (talk) 15:00, 4 September 2022 (UTC)Yuchitown
