Question

Why is it important to know spouse, parents, children? Kingturtle (talk) 13:02, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I would assume it is there in case a member of their immediate family is also notable. — Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 11:56, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Borders in infobox

I think the borders look very unattractive. I haven't seen any infobox that uses them. I'd like to suggest that the borders be removed. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 02:32, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Proposed merging of templates/infoboxes

Can this be merged with Template:Infobox minister of religion? It seems like they're redundant. Schluum (talk) 19:55, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

I am not in favour of merging, for the reason that some priests, as members of monastic orders (cistercians, cartusians, etc) are not 'ministers' of religion. In fact I have added to the infobox the line 'Religious order', an important information that should be given about the members of the clergy, at least in the Catholic tradition. I hope I modified the template correctly. Any competent reader could review my work and improve it... Thanks Zerged (talk) 21:36, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

RfC on Template:Infobox person

This message is to notify you that there is an RfC ongoing on whether to add pronunciation info to {{Infobox person}}, a discussion which may also affect this template. Your comments on the matter are appreciated. The discussion can be found here. Thanks! 0x0077BE (talk · contrib) 17:19, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

Date of birth

The doc now advises use of {{birth date and age}}, which requires a full date. However, as per WP:DOB the exact birth date should normally not be inclued in articles about living people unless it is widely published already, or has clearly been published with the approval of the person. Many editors seem to be automaically following this documetation and insertig full dates of birth where they should not. I have now included a warning about this in the doc. "Home town" and "known for" parameters

Having been reverted by BilCat when adding these two parameters, I figured I should take the discussion to the talk page. Why the reversion? 142.160.131.202 (talk) 04:37, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Don't know why the revision, but the doc has known_for and home_town still listed, and clergy is a wrapper for Infobox person and that template has both parameters, I would support both being restored. Ahwiv (talk) 19:46, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

There being no objection, I'll ask that the parameters be added. (Note: I am the former 142.160.131.202. My IP address changes only most rarely, but it did toward the end of last year.) 142.161.81.20 (talk) 23:51, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Home town and native name parameters and unknown parameter check

Could a home town parameter ({{{home_town|}}}) be added exclusively for cases where the subject's home town is different from their birth place? This would be in line with {{Infobox person}}, {{Infobox academic}}, {{Infobox writer}}, {{Infobox scientist}}, etc. Thanks, 142.160.89.97 (talk) 22:19, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Oh, it looks like there is already such a parameter. In that case, could home_town and known_for be added to the unknown parameter check at the end of the code so that we don't get error messages? Thanks, 142.160.89.97 (talk) 23:02, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Done. Sorry for taking three edits to get this done. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:50, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, Jonesey95! (And there's nothing to apologize for!)
Additionally, I just happen to be working on an article about a Russian priest right now. Would we be able to add the native_name and native_name_lang parameters from {{Infobox person}} as well? 142.160.89.97 (talk) 23:15, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

@Jonesey95: Could native_name and native_name_lang be added to the unknown parameter check as well? 142.160.89.97 (talk) 05:10, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
Done I am really not doing a good job here. – Jonesey95 (talk) 07:12, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
Don't worry about it! And thanks! 142.160.89.97 (talk) 08:01, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
