@Makeandtoss: It can mean any or all of the following:

• Controlled by a foreign government (some countries like France, Italy, and Spain have schools directly operated by the national governments, and the U.S. has schools operated by the DOD abroad)
• Using a non-Jordanian curriculum (for example, a non-profit private school using an American or British curriculum)
• Enroll students who have citizenships other than Jordanian
• Established by people not from Jordan (for example, some schools in Turkey are "Private Foreign Schools," which were established by non-Turkish people but which enroll only Turkish students. These schools are protected under the Treaty of Lausanne.

AEFE (French overseas education network) lists one school in Jordan: Lycée français international d'Amman (it is contracted by the French govt, conventionné, and not operated by the French government directly)

The U.S. State Department does not directly operate schools overseas, but it lists non-profit schools using American or comparable education systems. The state department lists the American Community School in Amman, for example.
