Inclusion of B and Z

edit

I would like to consider the addition of amino acid notation B (which denotes Asp/Asn) and Z (which denotes Glu/Gln) their corresponding codon in compressed form would be RAY and SAR respectively. This notation can be found in Jal View. What do you think?--14.139.196.2 (talk) 09:16, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree because B and Z are in the IUPAC standard for amino acids, and the two pairs of corresponding codons can be compressed thanks to the conserved 'A' on second codon position. Manudouz (talk) 11:54, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
I have updated the table accordingly. Manudouz (talk) 09:42, 28 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Alternative compression for Arg sextet codons

edit

I provided another legitimate way for the compression of Arg / R sextet codons:

  • CGT, CGC, CGA, CGG = CGN; AGA, AGG = AGR
  • CGT, CGC = CGY; CGA, CGG and AGA, AGG = MGR
