Do we really need to list the digital channels in the template too? PSIP mapping will take care of things, so people won't really need to know the DT channel numbers anyway. Besides, it seems redundant to list the digital channels when they link to the exact same articles as their analog counterparts; they just take up more space on the article. Can't we have the template just like the ones for the other markets (with the VHF's and UHF's listed together too)?

  • At a minimum, it shows what stations have converted in one place and allows navigation between the digital stations. I have seen a few radio nav templates where they have multiple links to one station. The extra space is in the template and not in the article, but it does add a bit to what has to be sent to display that page, not sure if that really matters. Also, PSIP does not always work in Vegas so, as an example, receivers will show DT for NBC on 2-1 and not 3-1 like it would if it had worked. Don't know if that is a flaw in the broadcasts or the receivers. Vegaswikian 04:09, 4 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Adjustments

edit
  1. Adjusted font-size and table cells to control real estate usage (On screen size).
  2. Added color for easy of association (ie: Digital, UHF, VHF)
  3. Moved some HTML to CSS

I decide to organize the whole thing. I put all channels on seperate sections, like English channels go on the English section, Spanish channels go on the Spanish section, etc. Other channels are mainly LPTV stations. Please do not reset the template like how it was before. I edited it once, than somebody edited back the way how it was before. I want it to stay like this. I think this is more organized than how it was before. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.224.152.174 (talk) 19:15, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you have changed it. Clearly your selected format is contrary to what is the consensus for this type of template. Because you like it does not make it the right thing to do. The purpose of the navbox is to provide navigation between the stations in the area and that is encyclopedic. To break this out further you are in effect organizing this as a directory and that is not what an encyclopedia is for. The edits to undo your changes clearly spelled out why this was being done. Your edit comments did not address the reasons for undoing much less explain what your changes were. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:56, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
69.224.152.174 please do not change the template again until it is decided how it should be at WikiProject Television Stations. Powergate92Talk 19:24, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK. I read it, and sorry for changing it. But is it okay if I at least change something? If you look at the other template for other TV markets, the channels are outlined like this, for example, "KCBS (2.1 CBS)". Unlike this template, it still shows the analog channel number. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.224.152.174 (talk) 16:20, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

As long at the changes are just to the channels and in compliance with the television wikiproject suggestions, then the changes should be OK. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:32, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
OK. I did 2 small changes though, on the LPTV stations, I put up -LP/-CA in the end. Also for KINC, KELV-LP is on 15.2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.224.152.174 (talk) 20:38, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cable Channels

edit

Now that we are adding local cable channels, shouldn't the Clark County and City of Las Vegas cable channels be on this template? What about Greenspun's Las Vegas One cable channel? --Ghettorichie01 12:53, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I don't think that issue is resolved. Your questions about the others are part of the problem. My objection to listing any of these is that are not available to me on any broadcast TV station. I'd wait a while longer to see how the discussions on this topic plays out on the TV project page and probably AfD. Vegaswikian 01:44, 14 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

IMO, I see no logical reason to list Spanish broadcasters seperate from English language broadcasters. This procedure will only become a bigger mess when stations like KEGS-LP has one feed in English and one in Spanish. List all channels together, and include an "Sp" for those channels broadcasting a particular main channel or sub-channel in Spanish. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.2.138.218 (talk) 19:50, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

The separation of Spanish and other language stations from the English language stations is unacceptable. We come to this site to see a listing of all stations, chronologically, within a market area. If a stations dot two or dot three happens to broadcast in a language other than English, then note that in the listing. Don't move that sub-channel to another portion of the template. It defeats the concise purpose of this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.48.36.206 (talk) 00:06, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
