Template talk:LicenseTagFairUseQualifier
Explanation
editThis template was created as a userspace page at User:LucasKannou/FairUseQualifierForImage in 2022 and was transcluded to 20+ non-free fair use license templates, which appear on a total of 10,000+ pages. I've copied it into the template namespace, since something that heavily transcluded seems to me like it belongs in the template namespace rather than the user namespace, and have updated the relevant license tags. I feel there would be some use to there being a discussion at some point about whether this template overall should be used... I can see merit to using it (in which case it should be used on all relevant license tags, rather than only on the subset of them that it currently is), or it should be transcluded to all of them and deleted and let each of the templates handle this text on their own; or there could be a better way to ensure consistent formatting/phrasing across different license tags (my preference would be the creation of a parent template which provides much of the formatting and boilerplate text that various license tags use, which they could each be rebuilt to make use of). Still, not letting perfect be the enemy of good here and at least getting this into the template namespace for the meantime so that a userspace page isn't being so widely transcluded. 🔹Blue (talk/contribs) 14:44, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
