Template talk:Moria (Middle-earth)

Creation

I created this template because information on Moria seems scarce and yet it was one of the most significant places of the Dwarves. It's history, culture and people were ruined by various creatures and almost all civilisation was lost in the mountain. there are a lot of articles on Wikipedia that seem to relate to Moria or Khazad-dum but there was no templates to lead to other topics, so I created this in an effort to guide people and expand potential information about Moria in the future. Durin's Helm

I removed "Durin's Helm" from the template. There was no article for it, and there is no clear textual authority for it. See Durin.  Elphion (talk) 15:12, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Not a lot left

Hog Farm - I see what you've done and there is a logic there even if it's a shame. What's left is so little that it adds almost nothing to the "{{lotr}}" template. And the three "{{Arda Realms Age1}}" ..Age2, ..Age3 templates add not a lot to the "{{Middle-earth}}" template, for that matter. Perhaps the lotr and Middle-earth are all we should have really. • @Chiswick Chap: I've also noticed that several more of the entries have dubious connections to Moria. Gimli is on the template, I guess because he went through the Mines with the Fellowship. Goblins are in Moria, of course, but goblins/orcs/hobgoblins infest almost any mountainous area in Middle-earth. Dain II Ironfoot and Thorin Oakenshield only have the connection to Moria through the Battle of Azanbulizar [sic]; they never actually entered it (although Dain looked in, right?). Is there a way to see which pages this template is used on? I don't feel like it provides any real navigational aid at Moria (Middle-earth), and Mithril, Watcher in the Water, and Durin are the only ones who I would consider Moria to define them (although Gandalf, Thrain II, and Balin (Middle-earth) all died there. Just go to the template page and click on "What links here" on the left hand side. The link goes to Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Moria_(Middle-earth). There aren't many articles that use it. Chiswick Chap (talk) 21:30, 29 January 2020 (UTC)

The articles within the template, the Moria article, a template that redirects here, and the talk page of an IP who vandalized it. Nothing useful. It can be tricky to get things deleted at TfD though, unless they're total rubbish. Hog Farm (talk)

I've been advised that the correct procedure is that we're meant to leave the list populated and transcluded naturally (I guess that means deleting rubbish is fine) to avoid prejudging the issue, and then take it in that state to TfD for decision. I suppose that is logical, if groan-inducing, so I'll add it back to the remaining entries and take it to TfD now. Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:00, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
