Template does not distinguish post-copyright works from pre-copyright works
Latest comment: 7 months ago1 comment1 person in discussion
The template seems to have a heading at the very top that says "Works based on a copyright-free Mickey Mouse". However, most of the works listed in the template are NOT works based on a copyright-free Mickey Mouse. Most are from the time before the copyright on Mickey Mouse expired.
I think that the template should distinguish between (the few, so far) post-copyright-on-Mickey works, versus the majority of works, which were created while the copyright on Mickey was in existence and was well policed. Some are parodies, some were protected by other factors such as limited distribution, and some were in fact sued by Disney over the copyright on Mickey Mouse. I don't think the template needs all those categories, but it should at least distinguish pre-2024 from post-2024 works, rather than claim that all these works are post-2024. --Gnuish (talk) 14:39, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
