Incomplete, will get filled out over time
- Obviously, this template is somewhat incomplete. It only contains Obie Award-winning Off Broadway plays that actually currently have articles on Wikipedia. In order to go on the template, the play itself must have received the award, either by the Director for the production of the play, the Writer of the play, a single production of the play itself, or the score. But if a single actor wins an Obie Award for a performance of the play, then that should be mentioned on the actor's article page on Wikipedia, but the play itself should not go on the template. 23 entries
- At the moment, the template only has (23) entries. But keep in mind that there are plenty more than one or two OBIE Awards given out to productions each year. Eventually we will have to split this off and restructure it in the model of templates like Template:TonyAwardBestMusical 1990-2009, broken down by time period, as more articles eventually get created on Wikipedia about OBIE Award winning plays. The Mineola Twins (1998)
I removed the entry The Mineola Twins (1998) - this one appears to have been for an individual actor, and so does not fit in with the initial intent of the template: In order to go on the template, the play itself must have received the award, either by the Director for the production of the play, the Writer of the play, a single production of the play itself, or the score.. Removed Take Me Out
Removed Take Me Out, unable to verify this one at this point in time. Cirt (talk) 08:33, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Restored entries
Restored entries to the template. Please do not remove without explanation on the talk page. Cirt (talk) 07:39, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
....the changes i made to the template was primarily removing plays that had not received awards. i plan to go back through to back fill the years with the correct works. --emerson7 07:53, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- what's really to discuss if the data is 1) factually incorrect 2) completely unsourced? --emerson7 07:57, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- Your changes are inaccurate. In many of these cases the plays were directly recognized with OBIE Awards. Please see the original description of what this template was intended for: In order to go on the template, the play itself must have received the award, either by the Director for the production of the play, the Writer of the play, a single production of the play itself, or the score. Please do not remove these entries from the template again without fully discussing this here on the talk page and obtaining consensus to do so. Cirt (talk) 08:08, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- the net you cast is far too wide. typically--and by typcially i mean in wikipaedia-- XXX-award winning play is defined as the work itself receiving the award. direction, writing, and the halve dozen other arbitrarly added for this template and since expanded by you to the category:Obie Award winning plays, are performance awards. there's no reason for the obie templates and categories to be handled any differently that the other major awards. --emerson7 18:12, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- Respected media publications such as Playbill commonly refer to these productions as quote "Obie-winning" productions, and they should be treated as such. Cirt (talk) 23:20, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
