I also find this curious. This template seems to use arbitrary definitions. Amtrak (still around) listed as a minor carrier, yet railroads defunct for more than 30 years listed as a major carrier? The "First Transcontinental Railroad" is a facility yet depots are not? IMO this template needs some discussion. Dave (talk) 15:15, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thinking about this some more, I think the best solution, at least for the separation of rail carriers, is to have "current" carriers and "defunct" carriers. That would eliminate the arbitrary distinction between major and minor.Dave (talk) 16:35, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
