I support Debresser's version. 'People of fooian descent' is what it says - someone with a Fooian ancestor (which should certainly be sourced) is of fooian descent (whether the someone likes it or not). Obama is of Kenyan descent as his father was Kenyan; 'self-identifying' to the nationality of a parent (or grandparent) is a bizarre requirement lifted inappropriately from a religion/sexuality section.
