- No, that edit only affects the template page itself. The module will still produce script errors for pages transcluding it. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 05:27, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- But doesn't that maintainance category serve its purpose in addition to script errors being visible on some pages directly? Gryllida (talk) 05:39, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Sure. But the code on Template:Ping2 wasn't an error - it was only an error when it was transcluded. It's perfectly logical not to need a username on the template page, but to require one when other pages are using the template. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 06:09, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Error in Template:Reply to: Username not given. is not a script error. It is just HTML output styled in big bold red letters. Does any of the above still apply? Gryllida (talk) 08:31, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Surely if we would like that category name be namespace-specific, we can configure the wiki software to do so rather than do ugly things by hand? Gryllida (talk) 05:12, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
