This template is intended to only include recognized institutional accreditors in the U.S. The U.S. Department of Education maintains a list of these organizations and that is the primary source for this information. Editors who want to add other organizations or use additional/different sources should open a discussion here first. ElKevbo (talk) 16:14, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I see no list at the page linked to above. Before that, I noticed that Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine has been put in the template, but the sources in the article's page don't check out.
Before that, I noticed that National University of Natural Medicine claims it accredits it.

Have I stumbled on a large problem part of a sub-problem part of a sub-problem part of a sub-problem? Unless the contents of this template can be verified, I think it should be deleted. Wondering what I should propose for deletion, or how to get more (experienced/specialized) eyes on this. RudolfoMD (talk) 03:18, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
The Department of Education moved the list. It's now at https://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/accreditation_pg3.html#RegionalInstitutional. ElKevbo (talk) 03:22, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Still seems like the situation is out of control. I looked through only FOUR institutions at Category:Colleges accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools before finding CBT Technology Institute where it is claimed that it's accredited. The accreditor is defunct. Not good. Probably the tip of the proverbial iceberg. RudolfoMD (talk) 03:43, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, ACICS had a long, drawn out death as the Trump administration dragged their heels on stripping its authority to accredit institutions. I don't know if anyone has yet systematically gone through all of the articles about institutions that were previously accredited by ACICS to ensure they're up-to-date. My recollection is that nearly all of them transitioned to a different accreditor so if you're going to attempt this you'll need to be careful and thorough - you can't just assume that an institution that was previously accredited by ACICS is now unaccredited. The specific institution you named is a good example. They are currently accredited by the Council on Occupational Education, an institutional accreditor recognized by the Department of Education. ElKevbo (talk) 04:30, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
A lot of them have shut down. I'm not assuming. You're right about CBT, but the COE makes it hard to cite. I can't find a static page confirming the status. Still verifiable though. Thanks again.
Feel free to review and improve my recent edits of institutions at Category:Colleges accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. RudolfoMD (talk) 04:43, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
