Out of date

edit

This diagram is now well out of date. It shows the long demolished depot, fails to show the replacement depot on the other side of the tracks, and gives no hint of the new routes and flyovers to the west of the station. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 13:14, 7 May 2017 (UTC) Reply

@Chris j wood: So should the TMD area look something like ⓵ or ⓶?
And would you care to give a few details about the flyovers etc? Useddenim (talk) 18:35, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
The description of the flyover layout is best read in conjunction with the track diagram in this article.
The relief lines stay more or less where they are at ground level. The fast lines go up on a double track viaduct that crosses over (1) the new Reading West to up-facing fast connection, (2) the new Reading west to/from up-facing relief connection, (3) the new festival line and (4) the existing Reading west down-facing curve. The new Reading West to up-facing fast connection and the new Reading west to/from up-facing relief connection look like a double track, but are actual separate and (I think) reversible single tracks, and they cross the site of the old depot at 90 degrees to the disused track shown on your diagrams above before curving upwards (in the sense of the diagram).
The festival line is the most complex to describe. It is a reversible single track that starts out on a viaduct parallel to and to the south of that carrying the fast lines. It crosses over (1) the new Reading West to up-facing fast connection and (2) the new Reading west to/from up-facing relief connection before descending to pass under the fast lines and join the relief lines just before the the existing Reading west down-facing curve.
All of that is way beyond my skills to diagram. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 12:36, 8 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
OpenStreetMap should be helpful for this, as the railway tracks are mapped completely in the Reading area. Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}
