Template talk:Renameuser2

I would like to add a "Google" search link to the "requested name" part of the template, much like {{User-uaa}}, granted not a big deal but seems it would help when checking multiple requests at one visit. Positioning of the text within the template has not been decided, suggestions welcome. Thoughts ? Note: The actual change would be to {{User23}} as Renameuser2 uses this as a core. Bureaucrat use

edit

Does 'bureaucrat use' row need now? Crats cannot rename users since September 15.--Anatoliy (Talk) 16:28, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I've fixed the wording, that line can be used by Stewards for local renames that are requested. –xenotalk 17:17, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please add links to verify if there are pending or already done global rename requests lodged in the global rename queue. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:06, 25 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

ucfirst

edit

Why use ucfirst? It makes it confusing, like for example, when a user is trying to make the first letter in their name lowercase, the template will show that they are trying to rename from Example to Example, rather than Example to example. --Terra (talk) 09:01, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Due to technical limitations, usernames must start with an uppercase letter. –xenotalk 14:35, 17 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Xeno: I'm aware, but using ucfirst is making the template show the username incorrectly, eg, you can't tell if someone is trying to rename from Example to example because the template will just show them trying to rename from Example to Example. --Terra (talk) 14:45, 10 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Adding AntiSpoof check to the template

edit

I'm not entirely familiar with how this template works. Would it be possible to add an AntiSpoof check link to this template? It is possible to see if a requested username triggers the AntiSpoof filter using this URL: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/api.php?action=antispoof&format=xml&username=, with the target username being added after the &username= bit. It's currently used on the global rename queue on Meta, but this could also be used to perhaps help non-renamer clerks, if they want to help out, to be able to see if the requested username hits the AntiSpoof filters. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 22:16, 16 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

K6ka, This api doesn't show correct results. But I check antispoof by going to m:Special:CreateAccount, which is pretty solid way because it shows all the possible conflict, some of which api doesn't (such as previous rename). ‐‐1997kB (talk) 16:21, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Adding a Wikipedia article search link

edit

If someone requests a name change of a well known person, let's say eg.Madonna, we should have a link in the template to check this. If the requested name has an article, then we need to send them to VRT to verify the requestor, per UPOL. - FlightTime (open channel) 21:15, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
