Purpose

edit

What is the use for this template? I'm not asking this in a negative way, as in saying that I personally believe it does not have a use, but am asking the question so I can take full advantage of it. I like the idea and format, but want to know the desired application. Cheers for the work!

You place it on the 2006 rugby union article for competitions - ie 2006 Super 14 etc.--HamedogTalk|@ 08:53, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tooheys New Cup

edit

Should the Tooheys New Cup be included in this template? This is a city/state competition. New Zealand, South Africe, and England have dozens of competitions at this level.S.ferguson 08:35, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have removed Tooheys New Cup as it is a Sydney competion, I don't think the purpose of this template is to list every city/state competition as it would become very cluttered. S.ferguson 09:07, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

What about the Shute Shield? It seems to be a competition of the same level. And we don't even have an article on GFI Hong Kong Tens. Conscious 09:23, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Timeline-style

edit

I have converted the template to timeline-like style. IMO, it makes the template much more readable. There's also an option to make all columns even, like this:

Rugby union in 2006
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
Celtic League IRL in NZ and AUS Celtic League
H. Cup Six Nations Championship Heineken Cup WAL in ARG H. Cup H. Cup
Guinness Premiership ENG in AUS Guinness Premiership
Top 14 FRA in RSA Top 14
Super 14 NZ in ARG Tri Nations
World Sevens Series Sevens
Powergen Cup SCO in RSA RSA in IRL and ENG
GFI Hong Kong Tens Shute Shield U21 World C'ship NPC
Commonwealth Sevens Pacific Rugby Cup Pacific Tri-Nations Australian Provincial C'ship
European Challenge Cup Churchill Cup Currie Cup

But in this case most rows become two-lined. Don't know what's better, a possible workaround is to make a single tile for the test series. The colours I've chosen are mostly arbitrary as well. Conscious 09:20, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I really like the new style. Just out of interest what is everones opinion on making the template hidden with a [show] button? Cvene64 07:55, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think equal spacing of the months looks good, I don't think it is a big issue with the rows becoming two lined. S.ferguson 08:24, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Infact I retract my comment, the new box is very aesthetically pleasing thus there is no need for a hide feature. Cvene64 07:51, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I actually went ahead and added the [hide]/[show] option to the box before I read this discussion page. I think it looks a lot better. If you object just go ahead and revert my changes.--SomeStranger(t) 21:38, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Super 10

edit

I think the Italian premiership definantly needs to be included, and the template title should be Notable rugby union events in 2006. Cvene64 13:33, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pacific Tri-nations

edit

Re: the dead link at Pacific Tri-nations: Isn't that competition replaced by the Pacific_Five_Nations. I don't feel sure enough to just replace it, but someone who knows probably should.Kriko 13:51, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removal of category inclusion

edit

I removed automatic inclusion of Rugby union competitions and 2006 in rugby union, only because the first cat is only for main articles, and the second does not allow the use of 2006 in rugby union|Super 14..etc. Cvene64 06:23, 20 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Needs World Cup qual.

edit

Hi, could someone please add 2007 Rugby World Cup qualifying to the template, whether it be like that, or broken up into Oceania etc..lso, the Currie Cup started in July. Thanks. Cvene64 08:52, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
