Ukrainian civilians detained in Russia: which article?

edit

Do we have an article or subsection covering the detention of Ukrainian adult civilians in Russia and/or the Ukrainian occupied territories during the invasion of Ukraine? Boud (talk) 16:08, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

There's an 86-page report Report on violations and abuses of international humanitarian and human rights law, war crimes and crimes against humanity, related to the arbitrary deprivation of liberty of Ukrainian civilians by the Russian Federation (Q127507090), plus an EJIL summary of the report by two of the human rights experts who authored it, on the topic of Ukrainian civilians detained in the occupied parts of Ukraine (it's not clear to me if Ukrainian civilians deported to Russia are included): The Moscow Mechanism Expert Report: On the Arbitrary Deprivation of Liberty of Ukrainian Civilians by the Russian Federation (Q127506242). These can be cited with {{cite Q}}, as in Moscow Mechanism#2020s, since the report is a result of using the Moscow Mechanism. Boud (talk) 17:01, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

My guess is "No". The closest we seem to have is Russian filtration camps for Ukrainians. Boud (talk) 18:27, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is no specific page I guess. See Child abductions in the Russo-Ukrainian War and War_crimes_in_the_Russian_invasion_of_Ukraine#Abduction_and_deportation. We also have Prisoners of war in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many Ukrainian "POWs" are not POWs, but civilians [1],[2]. See also Category:Ukrainian people taken hostage. My very best wishes (talk) 19:53, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I also see the report here. That's a lot of info and definitely deserves a separate page. My very best wishes (talk) 14:44, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Separate section for attacks in Russia?

edit

With the growing number of offensives in Western Russia, including the current large-scale August 2024 Kursk Oblast incursion, it could make sense to separate them into a new geographical section, with the "Military engagements" subgroup changing to:

Request adding Ukrainian occupation of Kursk Oblast behind the link for August 2024 Kursk Oblast incursion, in the following manner: August 2024 Kursk Oblast incursion (occupation) DemocracyDeprivationDisorder (talk) 17:21, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Good idea, but not sure what the best place is. Russian occupations of Ukrainian regions are shown in a separate row, but creating an entire row for a single link isn't really helpful, so I can't really tell for sure where it should go. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 18:13, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Putting it as part of the Russia row seems appropriate enough for now. Unless the incursion evolves to multiple Russian oblasts having Ukrainian military administrations I think a new row isn't necessary. DemocracyDeprivationDisorder (talk) 02:25, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done, if anyone takes issue with my choice send me a talk page message. Kingsmasher678 (talk) 22:14, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Unsure how to add new article to template

edit

Hi, I created a new article a few months back about Hong Kong and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but am unsure where to add it to this template. I did think to add it to the "other countries" section, but then it's not technically a country. I also thought about adding it to the China section, but that seems weird because it's not really the same thing. Thoughts? TeddyRoosevelt1912 (talk) 00:28, 26 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
