Silly?

edit

Doesn't anyone find this template offensive? Both by its name an the header "Don't be silly". Even if someone is an idiot or making an ass of himself, we're supposed to hold higher standards, aren't we (and higher standards definitely don't include calling people names)? Don't be such a prude! It is a lighthearted attempt to drag the vandals into a better life. Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 14:03, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Very few of the warning templates apply to juvenile foolishness in edits. I applaud the template, and the author. -- Remember, WP is not censored, and what you find offensive, others may find sublime. ;) David Spalding (  ) 05:07, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think this is a very useful template and I often use it as a gentle nudge to first time vandals. I would like it, however, if the policeman could be replaced with a suitable clown image. The gentle tone of this warning template is slightly inconsistent with the policeman image. --Dweller 09:55, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do you have an image in mind? A cartoon would be good. Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 16:19, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ideally a clown, but I can't find anything appropriate at Commons. I'd suggest one of     File:HKGolden Plastic Icon.svg --Dweller 16:27, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

He he, I was actually going to recommend the Comedy icon, but you beat me to it ;). ~ Arjun 00:49, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think my preferred option is actually the monkey. --Dweller 10:21, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think it looks great! It's certainly more appropriate for a gentle "silly" template. No doubt I'll be using it soon enough. --Dweller 10:56, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

What the...?

edit

Someone used this template on my talk page, and when I tried to edit the section (to reply), I ended up editing the template page itself. Reeeally weird. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gawaxay (talkcontribs) 22:01, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's because it was used transcluded, not substituted, and section editing of a transcluded section will bring you to the page where the section header is transcluded from. Amalthea 10:06, 22 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
