A navbox is not intended to represent an artist's full discography. That's what Taylor Swift discography is for. A navbox is intended to navigate between articles of a common topic. There are no articles for If This Was a Movie and Superman (Taylor Swift song) (only redirects) and they should not be listed in this navigation box as they are only piped to an already linked article in the template. Per WP:NAV, navigation templates provide navigation within Wikipedia and repeating links to the same article within a template should be avoided. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:13, 9 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Question

edit

Soundtrack singles seems to sound official so why are promo singles being placed as official singles instead of promo? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.58.26.34 (talk) 06:56, 8 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Confused about the title

edit

I've observed the navbox for Taylor Swift's singles and other songs flip back and forth between "Taylor Swift singles" (yellow) and "Taylor Swift songs" (blue, as it is currently) a few times now, and I'm trying to understand the rationale behind its current configuration. As far as I can tell, it is laid out as a singles navbox, with only songs officially promoted as singles listed beside the associated albums, and all other promotional singles, soundtrack singles, etc. listed in "other songs". So why is it called "songs"? From what I've seen of other "songs" navboxes (such as Rihanna's), all songs from any given album which have warranted their own article are listed along with the album; following this logic, "State of Grace", for example, should go in the Red category rather than "other songs". Either way, if it remains "Taylor Swift songs" rather than "...singles", should the other songs from Red with their own page (i.e. "I Almost Do") not also be in the "other songs" category, as they once were? Or if we're trying to stick to singles and more significant songs to avoid cluttering the box, why not just go ahead and call it "Taylor Swift singles"?

Guess I'm just trying to figure out what the consensus on organization is. And why. :) Songsteel (talk) 06:15, 15 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is how propose the template should be organized, but the current rendition works well enough, so I won't fiddle with it unless people agree. Songsteel (talk) 06:48, 15 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Better Man

edit

Why Better Man by Little Big Town isn't listed here? It's a song written by Taylor Swift. And how You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home by Hannah Montana, which is also written by Taylor Swift made it here? Should I add it.. or anyone wanna add it? Songs: sorted by single release date or track list order?

edit

When I edit artist templates, I usually sort singles/songs by date of release. If applicable, the single release date is preferred over the album release date. Examples: Jars of Clay, MercyMe (with perhaps one exception), etc. However, at least one editor on the Taylor Swift template prefers album track order over single release date order. Which sorting method should we use? --LABcrabs (talk) 16:45, 18 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

I was just thinking about this! At first I thought it was a bit confusing that the songs are ordered in album track order instead of single release date. However, then I noticed that this is a template of Taylor Swift songs and not singles. If you look closer, you'll see that this template includes some songs that were never singles (e.g. Dear John, State of Grace, I Did Something Bad). So if we would order the songs by single release date, that would create a problem, because these songs were never a single.
In summary, I'm in favor of album track order. Marloura (talk) 14:40, 11 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

"Change"

edit

The song "Change" is a track from Fearless (Taylor Swift album) and a song from the AT&T Team USA Soundtrack. Does it go in the Fearless section or the Soundtrack songs section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billiekhalidfan (talkcontribs) 15:40, 23 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

It’s Fearless. Brachy08 (Talk) 06:59, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
