Future development
editThis template will only really be useful once this bot request has been completed.
Once other timeline-producing (or hCalendar-consuming) services are identified, it can be made into a box, like {{kml}}. Andy Mabbett (aka Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy Mabbett; Andy Mabbett's contributions 23:42, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
ER pages
editHi,
This template provides clutter on many ER pages.
Is it still useful? It appears to be groundwork for an abandoned project.

- It is not clutter. No project has been abandoned and, contrary to your note on my talk page, there is no danger. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 12:00, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- My comment, of course, was facetious, as was plainly self-evident.
- Can it be made to look less odd and anomalous? With the addition of a comment, or a subsection heading perhaps?
- I am maintaining those pages now and I want to straighten the mess.
- Any other editor would have blown it away already, right. This is Wikipedia, where assholes blow stuff the fuck away all the time.
- Like a gentleman, I am taking the time to ask, so I don't need your belligerent tone, thanks.
- What is its purpose, if I might enquire?

Okay, 10 years later, and it's time to revisit this question. Looking at ER (season 9), for example, there's a "Event data as RDF" link in the External links section, which is flagged as a dead link. Should this be updated to call the template correctly? Should this be removed, perhaps until such a time as the template is working? I can't even figure out what this is supposed to be, so I'm not sure what "correctly" and "working" would mean in this context. It looks like something about programming your Tivo. I suppose with another few hours research I could figure out what it's trying to do. It's definitely not adding useful content in its current state.

- copied reply from WikiProject Microformats discussion:
- I think it's intended to display a visual timeline (example) based on hCalendar microformats on the current page. It relies on the domain microform.at to parse those hCalendars into the SIMILE Timeline, but that domain appears to be inactive since ~2017 (based on poking around Wayback Machine). The software that microform.at was running seems to be getting old, too, so I'm not sure if that service is likely to be revived, either at that domain or another. I'm not certain best practice around this, but perhaps you could comment out the template with a note to check back later and see if it's been revived? – gRegor (talk • contribs) 22:48, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
microform.at does not work for certain page titles
editList of accidents and incidents involving military aircraft (2010–present) does not export to RDF at (http://microform.at/), while a renamed page with same content (e..g List of accidents and incidents involving military aircraft 2010) exports to RDF. a (http://microform.at/) bug...
