Detailed diagram

edit

Owing to the fact that most route diagram templates, including the various ones for the other rail lines around the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex do not have detailed diagrams, does this detailed diagram really need to exist? OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 05:31, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Having two diagrams definitely seems unnecessary.
That being said, the detailed diagram is a lot closer to other Dallas-area templates (e.g. Template:TEXRail and Template:Green Line (Dallas Area Rapid Transit)) than the simple one, since it includes roads, river crossings, etc. LazyCat256 (talk) 00:09, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Agreed; the “default” map seems way too simplistic to me. Perhaps it can be the one to be removed and the detailed map kept as the new “default” map? OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 01:10, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
One idea could be to use the detailed map on the TRE page, as this level of detail is common among RDTs. However, another idea could be to use the simple "stations-only" diagram for the individual station pages (to show only where it is along the route.) I had the idea recently for my neck of the woods, but preparing for the eclipse and other offline responsibilities have delayed me. Of course, the Adjacent Stations template covers termini and "adjacent stations", but may come in handy for those that want to see the whole line without accessing the main article. Just my opinion. That sounds interesting, I’ve seen something similar with the individual station articles for the Edmonton LRT. I’d imagine it as something similar to that? OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 20:42, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
