Automatic italicisation

There may be merit in using separate parameters for newspaper name (eg "The Avon Gazette and Kellerberrin News") and state/years ("(Western Australia: 1914–1916)"), so that the template could automatically italicise the former and not the latter, instead of the editor being required to remember to do it. I'm not sure we need this template at all. Trove offers APA, MLA, Harvard, and Wikipedia citations via their "i" (Details) button. Here's an example:

Seems reasonably serviceable to me. The only improvement I can see is the correct name of the paper The Daily Examiner, removing the comma after |volume=, and correcting all-caps of the title. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 14:36, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

As mentioned in the documentation, this is not for citations to actual articles, but for external links (as at Wheatbelt newspapers#External_links) which provide access to all of Trove's coverage of a newspaper. - Evad37 [talk] 14:50, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

URL being used is probably not persistent

This template is generating URLs of the form

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/title/250

but if you go there, you will see that the recommended Trove citation is to:

http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-title250

The citation URLs are the ones that the NLA regard as their persistent ones, whereas the URLs you see in the address bar of the browser are a reflection of particular implementations of Trove and are not guaranteed persistent. So I think this Template should be using the Trove citation URL. Kerry (talk) 00:48, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Another way to cite sources available through Trove?

I find the citations recommended on this template page quite complex, and I suspect that may discourage their use by contributors.

I also prefer to cite the original publisher and the National Library of Australia as digital publisher. Many readers do not know what Trove is, so a hyperlink is useful too. I'm therefore considering using the form below my signature.

This template is not intended to be used as a citation template -- it is meant to be used to generate an external link, e.g. for an wikipedia article on a newspaper to link to Trove's resources for that newspaper. For citations, yes the ones generated by Trove should be used. I tend to use |via=[[NLA Trove|Trove]] (National Library of Australia) to indicate that Trove is the content provider. - Evad37 [talk] 10:10, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
