Heraldics
editWhat relation has the imperial eagle to Cossacks? Cossacks realy fought for Russian tsars but they are also fought against them too. Very ridiculous template. Very ridiculous.--Alex Kov 09:25, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- Not really, the modern Cossack descendents have no hatred to the Russian monarch, and neither did they have throughout the 19th century, what's history is history. Cossacks too make mistakes. btw we Kuban Cossacks were never disloyal to the Empror. His personal guard was made up of them, and even today the largest portion of those serving in the Presidential regiment - are from the Kuban. --Kuban Cossack 13:21, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- Alex Kov, I just created Template:User_Zaporozh_Cossack with Ukrainian trident (see below). Anyone is free to use whatever heraldics he sees fit at his userpage and now users have a choice. Relax. --Irpen 16:10, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
This user is a descendant of the Zaporozhian Cossacks. |
Irpen, your work is also ridiculous. Cossacks from Zaporozhia, as well as any other Cossacks, have no relation neither to Ukrainian trydent nor Galician lion as well as double-head creature called "eagle". For the centureis Cossacks used croses, crescents, stars, bows and arrows on their emblems. The symbol of Zaporozhians was Turkish-like musketeer (nowadays everybody says that it is a Cossack) and the symbol of Don Cossacks was the wounded dear. So lads your both templates are ridiculous. --Alex Kov 16:35, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- Feel free to substitute the trident for another image. I just wanted to give people choice. --Irpen 16:42, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- Also note that you are talking about templates to be used in the userspace only. People have much more choice of what they can put in their userspace than for the mainspace articles. For instance this self-styled "Finn nationalist" calls for partitioning of Russia by his userboxes, this Romanian nationalist calls for partitioning of Ukraine, and this user calls for partitioning of several countries all at the same time. So, if you are conserned with inflammatory messages stemming from user's choice of the userboxes, there are by far more pressing issues than cossack heraldics. --Irpen 16:59, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
