Just wondering whether it would be better to have the University logo rather than 'Oxon', e.g.

- Nope - the Oxford university logo is a copyrighted object and is therefore used under the fair use doctrine. However, no copyrighted images can be used outside the main namespace, as stated in WP:FU. It's a shame, because the userboxes don't look half as good, but rules are rules.
