Where is this policy? Is this really against policy? Is scaring a new user with this a good idea? —Centrx→talk • 18:31, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's not... I just quoted WP:U on the ANI which says that email usernames are discouraged but not forbidden unless they are misleading (or otherwise are inappropriate). The template should either me modified to remove reference to it being against policy or deleted altogether. Petros471 22:12, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. In reading the WP:Username#Inappropriate usernams policy, it directs admins to use this template when blocking, leaving blocking to admin discretion. However, the template must adequately reflect policy/guidance. — ERcheck (talk) 22:42, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Really, the software should be limiting usernames to alphanumeric characters rather than allowing account creation, then having admins block the accounts and getting users angry or confused. —Centrx→talk • 22:22, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
