Template talk:Vanderbilt University

edit

User:Poeticbent removed the colors from this template. A back-and-forth of reverting ended with that user's note of, "This is not a template for the Lord of Darkness, standards please". I'm just curious as to what standards, if any, should be used for this template. A stroll through Category:Template-Class Universities pages shows a variety of schools using a combination of university colors, as well as some using no colors at all. For example, Template:The Pennsylvania State University, Template:American University, Template:Penn, Template:Princeton, and Template:Northwestern all use colors, while Template:MITtemplate does not. I personally like the color scheme versions. Since not many users seem to have a vested interest in this particular template, perhaps consensus should be established at WikiProject Universities before making wholesale changes to university templates? • Some of the examples from above only confirm my impression of this template being out of line. Northwestern has a title bar in its own color only, so does University of Pennsylvania. Massachusetts Institute of Technology on the other hand, proves my point 100% with standard Wikipedia colors throughout (in case you don't know what they are). --Poeticbent talk 06:14, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
You're making my point for me. :) I'm arguing that there's no "standard" for these templates at all: some use full color, some use colors in the title bars, some don't use color at all. If you'd like to suggest a standard, then I really do think the WP:UNI talk page is the place to do it. Personally, I like the variety, but other users may disagree. Cheers!
