Inconsitencies

There are many inconsistencies in the template:

• M2 Medium Tank, but Medium Tank T20 (officially the latter pattern is the right one).
• M12 Gun Motor Carriage, but M40 GMC, but T35, but 8in Howitzer Motor Carriage T84 (again, the latter pattern is the right one, but may be some shortened version should be adopted).
• M5 Half Track (links to M3), but no M9 (same relation to M2). Either both should be in or both should be out.
• Some Ts are written with hyphen (a mistake ?).

Also, I'm not sure where the Universal Carrier T16 belongs in this template, but it can hardly be called experimental. And one might argue that the Heavy Tank M6 in not exactly experimental too, since it was officially adopted and, well, entered production... Bukvoed 09:00, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Prototypes

I'm not sure this is the right place to discuss it, but do we need separate articles (and consequently template entries) for prototypes which led to production vehicles ? Such as the aforementioned medium tank T20 (prototype which eventually led to M26 Pershing) or GMC T35 (ended up as M10 Wolverine) ? Bukvoed 09:00, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Not for those that ended up being produced unless distinctly significant in their own right (unlikely). They can be covered in the article of the production model. GraemeLeggett 10:06, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Amphibians

I have added Ford GPA and M29C Weasel to the list of amphibians even though they are not armored. However neither is the DUKW which was already there. I suppose if one goes, all 3 should (leaving just the LVT). DerbyCountyinNZ (talk) 11:35, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Unarmored vehicles

Removed a couple of entries which date from well before World War II

This template had a couple of entries which were actually experimental test vehicles from the late 1920s and early 1930s, well before World War II. One had been added a year ago, and the other just last month. I've removed both of them. With the popularity of the MMO game World of Tanks, which includes vehicles like these as starting or special tanks, I suspect there are quite a few gamers who might try adding them into this template without realizing that they come from well before the era. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 23:04, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Purge non-AFV articles

it's been a decade since someone last suggested this. Currently there's several articles listed that aren't about AFVs, namely the calliope and whizbang, which are simply launchers mounted on an armored vehicle, and things like the DUKW which is neither armored nor a fighting vehicle. Before I change anything I'd like to hear some opinions, but considering it has been a while since anyone has talked on this page I will start editing after ~a week of no response. Inconsistent addition of vehicle nicknames

Some of the tanks have the nickname of the tank listed, some random other vehicles have their nickname in parentheses, and the rest of the vehicles doesn't have their nickname listed, but have their official designation instead. I suggest changing all links for vehicles with available nicknames to use the nickname, as vehicles are generally more widely known under their nickname. DynCoder (talk) 07:50, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
