Banner Image
edit
The current banner image works as a holding picture, but isn't the most appropriate - can we consider any long term alternatives?Metabaronic (talk) 17:30, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps an image of the helmet from Sutton Hoo? Most iconic Anglo-Saxon image I can think of. Unfortunately I have no expertise in the area of image editing.Revcasy (talk) 21:08, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- I like the Sutton Hoo image, I just added what we had. Change is really easy. Sadads (talk) 11:46, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- Is there an image of it without rights issues - from what I've seen there are fixed permissions in place.Metabaronic (talk) 12:55, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- The image on the right has appropriate licensing. Sadads (talk) 14:32, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- Nothing square-on?Metabaronic (talk) 14:45, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- There is one but the lighting is bad and this would look better icon size (see readjusted picture size vs other), the third is actually much better I think. The problem with 1 and 2 though, is that they are replicas. They look much better though and are more distinct on a smaller size.Sadads (talk) 15:24, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- They have a replica on display at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery as part of the Staffordshire Hoard exhibit. Its on public display so I should be able to get a picture this week. I think it's even against a black background.Metabaronic (talk) 15:30, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- Three is fine though, both for licensing, size and quality. I think we should transition to that, its a pretty good shot and looks dramatic. Sadads (talk) 15:35, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- A right-facing image is preferable as for a position on the left of the panel. Another suggestion would be for the best-known of Anglo-Saxon kings.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 19:14, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Then lets do #1 for right now?Sadads (talk) 17:46, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- Fine by me.Metabaronic (talk) 21:32, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- I used #3 on Template:WikiProject Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms Sidebar because space and size limitations, but replace all the others with #1. Sadads (talk) 21:58, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
