Examples to follow for development of this template

Category names

edit

I think we should prefix the category names with WikiProject Cities. This way we can have all the articles separated for quick review by project members. In the banner, where there is a wikilink for the rating, I think we should link to X-Class WikiProject Cities articles vs. X-Class articles. Thoughts? Alan.ca 19:52, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Priority option broken

edit

Could someone fix the priority option, it seems not to be working. Alan.ca 20:45, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Clarification

edit

Being a newbie I would like to see more explanation of what all the elements and parameters mean and how they interact; possibly with examples of usage. JimScott 15:52, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please fix this template

edit

This template does not appear to be putting the new C-class articles into the proper category. It puts them into the Unassessed category, not Category:C-Class WikiProject Cities articles. Dr. Cash (talk) 18:18, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've made a fixed for this at Template:WPCities/Sandbox. Please ask a sysop to copy and paste the contents of the sandbox onto this template, because it is currently protected. bsrboy (talk) 19:06, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

importance=NA

edit

I propose that the importance grade NA be added to the template. It is the most appropriate assessment category for categories for instance. __meco (talk) 10:45, 14 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

upgrade to WPBM

edit

{{edit protected}} Would like to upgrade this template to WPBM, have worked up a test template at {{WPCities/Sandbox}}.

  1. Question: Is there a way to designate the name for the auto assessment category, i.e., "Automatically assessed WikiProject Cities articles", instead of "Automatically assessed Cities articles"? Thanks --Funandtrvl (talk) 00:05, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it's |AUTO_ASSESS_CAT but I'm not sure why it isn't documentated. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 00:35, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! The test template is updated and ready for implementation...I hope! --Funandtrvl (talk) 01:03, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Done. Let me know if anything is not working as expected. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:24, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Table of contents issue?

edit

Unless I'm completely losing it, I can't figure out why {{WPCities}} is causing the ToC to not show up at Talk:Montreal. Here's it without the template: [1]; and here's it with the template (even with me attempting to forcetoc): [2]. Any ideas what I'm missing here? user:J aka justen (talk) 20:46, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

New icon

edit

The globe icon is confusing, this is a template for a city wikiproject, not a globe/Earth wikiproject. Something from commons:Category:Building icons seems more appopriate. How about Image:Buildings.svg, Image:City-b.png or Image:Ciudad.svg? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 00:31, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

needs-photo

Removal of needs-photo as discussion Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cities#Purpose of needs-photo ?, edit made in sandbox.

Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/Assessment#Importance scaleWikipedia:WikiProject Cities/Assessment#Importance assessment. __meco (talk) 14:17, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not done: Unfortunately the {{WPBannerMeta}} template group (more specifically, Template:WPBannerMeta/importancescale) expects standard anchors, and it cannot be configured to use anything else. The standard anchors are either #Importance scale or #Priority scale (depending upon whether the project banner has been configured to recognise |importance= or |priority=). To allow custom anchors would require modifications to Template:WPBannerMeta, Template:WPBannerMeta/core, Template:WPBannerMeta/importancescale, possibly others. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:47, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Alternatively, I could do something like this, or this. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:05, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
I don't quite get this. Are you giving evidence that this is a widespread issue? Surely it needs then to be addressed at its core, wherever that is? __meco (talk) 19:19, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
I don't know about "widespread". What I do know is that in the last two years or so, I've found four or five WikiProject banners where the /Assessment subpage had been given section headers which did not match those expected by the {{WPBannerMeta}} template group. There are two possible fixes for Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/Assessment: either alter the heading to the one which is expected, or add an {{anchor}} as I did with those two examples. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:33, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Redirect class

edit

Would it be possible to turn the Redirect option on for this template, because there are some redirect pages where this is already used and assigned. CRwikiCA (talk) 14:51, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

  Done --Redrose64 (talk) 15:49, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks! CRwikiCA (talk) 15:58, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit request

edit

Could someone please adjust the banner so that Category:Automatically assessed WikiProject Cities articles is not required? The category is emppty and there are no bots that populate articles with this parameter anymore and haven't in a couple years. Thanks! Kumioko (talk) 14:20, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
