New version of template

I've got an updated template at Template:WPPhilippines/sandbox which uses WPBannerMeta. Any objections to using it? -- WOSlinker (talk) 22:04, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The meta template seems to assume a lot more classes of articles that we don't use (so far). --seav (talk) 02:11, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
That's only the suggestions shown on the template. It will still work without creating those extra categories. -- WOSlinker (talk) 19:26, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 18 November 2015

edit

Is it possible to move this template to Template:WikiProject Philippines while still linking to the project page at Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines? As a WikiProject, the name should be similar to other country WikiProjects, hence the banner should be titled "WikiProject Philippines". However, we want to retain the collaboration page title as "Tambayan Philippines" to emphasize that this is not just a WikiProject but also a regional notice-board and a general Village Pump–like page for editors in the Philippines.

Based on the WPBannerMeta meta-template, this request should be possible by supplying the following parameters after moving the template to Template:WikiProject Philippines:

  • PROJECT = Philippines
  • PROJECT_LINK = Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines

seav (talk) 06:03, 18 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: Yes, this is possible, but you need to make sure that there is consensus first by asking people at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tambayan Philippines. If there is a consensus (or if no-one responds) after, say, a week, then please reopen this request. Best — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 08:34, 18 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

A couple of suggestions

edit

The ambiguous NA-Class currently includes draft articles and redirect pages combined. For better categorization, perhaps it would be best to add classes Redirect-Class and Draft-Class, like what WP:CA does, then later on delete the ambiguous NA-Class option once all pages categorized under it are recategorized under the two new Classes.

Also, please add a B-Class Criteria checklist option, like what {{WPMILHIST}} does, to allow greater scrutiny in article assessment.

Thanks. Sanglahi86 (talk) 07:15, 10 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

NA=class means Non-Article, and neither redirects nor drafts are articles. MILHIST is a funny one, their project banner is very non-standard and it is not a good idea to base any other WikiProject banner upon that one.
Regardless of that, I am very familiar with the construction of WikiProject banners, and can make the appropriate amendments; but before doing so, I require the consensus of the WikiProject itself, I cannot do it on the request of one member. A link to a concluded discussion at WT:WikiProject Tambayan Philippines will be sufficient.
Please also bear in mind that the addition of a B-Class checklist will immediately downgrade all current B-Class articles to C-Class until each one is reassessed individually. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:45, 10 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I understand. I'll see if I may start a discussion on the WikiProject talk page. Thank you for the information. —Sanglahi86 (talk) 21:34, 10 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: A discussion regarding the matter (at section Consensus on suggestions for improving {{WikiProject Tambayan Philippines}}) appears to show general support for the proposed changes. Please check and verify if consensus has indeed been reached. Thanks. –Sanglahi86 (talk) 09:51, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I will do this, when I have time. I can only get broadband for limited periods at the moment, and I have a backlog which might take a couple of weeks to resolve. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 15:24, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Sanglahi86: Sorry for the delay! I was reminded by this post elsewhere. I've added the B-Class checklist to Template:WikiProject Tambayan Philippines/sandbox, please check that it does what you want - all pages in Category:B-Class Philippine-related articles will move to Category:C-Class Philippine-related articles until their individual checklists are filled in.
As for the first part of the request, this was carried out in November 2022, see #Template-protected edit request on 25 November 2022 below, but please note that Category:NA-Class Philippine-related articles isn't empty, most probably because pages are explicitly setting |class=NA, something that should never be necessary. Edits like this will sort them out. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:20, 23 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the update and info/tip. I have copied a list of the existing B-Class articles to prioritize in rechecking them for the B-Class criteria. Please do the changes in the template as needed. Kind regards. Sanglahi86 (talk) 14:55, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
