Sort order question

edit

Using "sortable", is it possible to sort based on what is not visible? If so, how do I format that in the table? Example, I want to display a wikilink in the name column as "FirstName LastName", but I want it sortable by "Name, Last". Thank you. - Trilotat (talk) 14:09, 9 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikitable padding issue

Not sure if this is a new issue as of 10 September 2021 (UTC).

Posting here. Will also link here from phabricator if I can figure out how to report bugs there. Posted on phabricator.

My Specs

Explanation

edit

I've noticed in the last 24 hours that tables are displaying all wonky in my browser. Please see above specs. I fixed an article yesterday by removing the padding on the table by using style="padding:0;".

I had tried using style="margin:auto; border:0;" and style="margin:0; border:0;" as recommended as a fix for float issues, but that did nothing to the table except remove the border. Did not try style="margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto;" or style="margin-left:0; margin-right:0;". However, once I removed the padding, I was able to restore the border and verify the table displayed as expected. T. Superhero (@/#) 03:16, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Kimdorris, given that you are using Timeless, I suspect you have the sticky table headers gadget turned on. I made this edit yesterday probably around the time you started seeing wonkiness. Are you using that gadget? I'm currently waiting on the author of the suggested change to get back to me offwiki, but I may revert it soon if he doesn't. Izno, yes I am. I thought it might have been Timeless. I tried testing with the default .css, but I had issues with all pages acting weird after I changed the .css setting. I refreshed from server, but still had artifacts of both files, so I gave up testing with the default and reverted to Timeless. Let me test with sticky table headers off. T. Yep, that was it. Tested, verified, reverted that specific change. Thank you, Inzo. T. Superhero (@/#) 04:28, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Kimdorris: I'm guessing you caught the actual change was this one. Because that one actually affects the users. Izno (talk) 04:35, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
I have reverted the change. Izno (talk) 13:51, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
