History

edit

The Christian School (Takeley) was established in 1989 by a consortium of parents and supporters with the aim of delivering a Christian-centered education, emphasizing Christian faith and principles. Presently, the school comprises families from diverse geographical regions, representing various church affiliations or none at all. In 2017, the school obtained membership in both the Independent School Association[3] and the Independent Schools Council.[4]

Site and facilities

edit

The school was situated on the premises of Takeley Chapel, which currently serves as the location for Takeley Congregational Church, an independent religious institution. The site encompasses an Edwardian chapel building, a recreation hall, and a stable block that was converted into a workshop and science laboratory.

Nine distinct teaching rooms were available on-site, complemented by additional facilities such as a library and kitchen. Outdoor amenities included a playground, gazebo, and allotments located at the front of the premises.

Awards

edit

The school received the bronze, silver, and gold Woodland Trust awards.[5]
