Organization
editThe Timmins Fire Department is headed by the Fire Chief who is assisted by the Deputy Chief. It consists of 28 full-time firefighters. The jurisdiction is divided into seven wards of volunteer firefighters.[1]

History
editThe department was established in 1911, after a devastating fire which destroyed the community of South Porcupine, over 2,200 square kilometres (850 sq mi) of land, 73 people and $3 million in property. Locals gathered inside of a box car owned by the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway. The Town of Timmins was incorporated the next year.[2]
