Political career
editTom Briese was elected as state senator for Nebraska's Legislative District 41 in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020.[3] In May 2023, Briese proposed the re-call of fellow state senator Merv Riepe[4] because Riepe voted against the Nebraska Heartbeat Act, which would have banned most abortions after six-weeks.[5]
In September 2023 Briese was appointed by Governor Jim Pillen to succeed John Murante as Nebraska State Treasurer; he assumed office on November 1, 2023.[6]
