Tommy Gubbins was a Chinese actor, director, technical advisor, and casting agent. He is best known for his role as a Chinese officer in Shanghai Express, appearing with Marlene Dietrich and Anna May Wong.

Career
editGubbins started his career as a casting agent who recruited many Chinese people in America to became an extra in Hollywood films.[1] He also worked as a director at Chinese Operas and cultural program to entertain Chinatown tourists.[1] Gubbins established The Tom Gubbins Asiatic Costume Company, a decoration store to celebrated Chinese night, which was located in Los Angeles.[1] He made his film debut by starring in Shanghai Express as a Chinese officer and served as the technical advisor for the film.[2]
