History

edit

The Archaeological Studies Program, under the Office of the Chancellor, was first constituted on August 24, 1995, as a multidisciplinary program under the supervision of a Director and a Coordinating Council. The Coordinating Council of the Archaeological Studies Program was composed of the Director of the ASP and the deans of the College of Arts and Letters, College of Engineering, College of Science, College of Social Science and Philosophy, College of Architecture, and Asian Center.

The ASP would be elevated into the School of Archaeology on November 10, 2022, to meet the needs of the increasing student population of the program, facilitate increasing research work, and attract international research grants.

Programs

edit

The School of Archaeology offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in archaeology. Students may take the Diploma in Archaeology in preparation for graduate studies in archaeology, as the PhD in Archaeology requires that applicants have taken either the MA/MS Archaeology or the Diploma in Archaeology.
