Family[edit | edit code] • Father — Yuri Ivanovich Shankov (1937-2023) — novelist and poet, member of the Union of Soviet Writers. • Mother — Galina Nikolaevna Shankova (1943) — technical editor of books and magazines. Biography Born on July 29, 1962 in Kuibyshev (now Samara), lives and works in Moscow. In 1983 he graduated from the Moscow Art College “In the memory of the 1905 Revolution”. In 1991 he graduated from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.N. Surikov, the Glazunov Portrait Studio. From 1991 to 1992 he worked in the USA: in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, he participated in the creation of the Sheremetev Gallery "Russian Art" in Boston, conducted a portrait class at the Sharon Art Center, Vermont, USA. From 1993 to 2005 — worked at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of Ilya Glazunovas a professor of composition, Historical Painting department; associate professor of the Department of Painting and Drawing; Professor, head of Historical Painting department; Professor, Head of the Department of Drawing; Professor, Head of the Department of Painting and Drawing. From 2012 to 2023 — Lecturer and head of the Composition Department of the Moscow State Academic Art College “In the memory of the 1905 Revolution”. Since 2017 — Professor of the Composition Department of the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 2002, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Painting Department. In 2022, he was awarded the silver medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.
