Michel Van Rijn

International art smuggler, forger, and fugitive Michel Van Rijn started smuggling art when he was twenty years old. Dealing with upper-class gangsters and supposedly legitimate art dealers, he's been shot, extradited, jailed, hunted by MI6 and Interpol (1), and he claims in a recent film to have killed Joseph Mengele, famous Nazi SS officer, and physician at Auschwitz while working for Mossad.

Van Rijn is the subject of the 2017 documentary film "The Iconoclast" about his life as an art smuggler and later informant for international authorities. (2)
