- A lengthier summary of an RfC located at Talk:List of suicide crisis lines#rfc_1BB1897.
This article was kept as keep in a previous discussion in 2012. In my attempt at a summary, the issues and arguments raised in the deletion discussion or talk page include:
- The list's inclusion of phone numbers makes it a directory, which Wikipedia is not
- The list has indiscriminate non-notable entries, violating the List selection criteria
- WP:IAR should be invoked to keep non-notable entries
- WP:IAR should be invoked to prevent suicides
- Preventing suicides violates WP:NPOV (or, alternatively, balances out the existence of Suicide methods)
- Bare external links to crisis lines can be included with a consensus
- Possibility of merge with Crisis hotline
- Possibility of soft redirecting or hatnoting to Meta:Mental health resources
However, the suggestion of using the talk page to determine whether to keep the phone numbers or non-notable entries resulted in only one discussion between two people (with myself commenting a few months later under my old username 8ty3hree) that apparently only talked about allowing bare external links, as have been used in infoboxes. I inquired at WPTALK:NOTDIR as it pertains to this list and was given helpful advice but nothing specific to the list; I then went through and deleted non-notable entries, which have since been intermittently re-added over the course of a few years. I have recently boldly repeated my actions with the addition of removing all phone numbers, as well as numbers also listed at List of emergency telephone numbers, which has been reverted, so I am bringing this to an RfC so that this gets more attention.
The list is definitely neutered in comparison to what many of those wishing to keep it would have intended, and there are concerns about using (and whether or not to use) the list as a resource for those seeking resources. I wish to open discussion as to what exactly this article should contain. 93 (talk) 21:44, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
