editShowplace Square (aka Design District) is located north or Potrero Hill, south of SOMA (South of Market), and west of Mission Bay.
It is roughly bounded by Potrero Ave to the west, 17th St to the south, Brannan St to the North, and 7th St. to the east.
Characteristics
editShowplace Square is a light-industrial district primarily consisting of upscale furniture design centers, art studios, art schools, and culinary schools. The city of San Francisco outlined an effort to maintain the artistic nature of the area and prevents residential developments from it.
