A.S. Alfred (born 21st January 1994) is an Hollywood Screenwriter. He's prominently known for writing the original screenplays of critically acclaimed and commercial successful film Verbena: Pray For Me, directed by Justin Baldoni starring Nicole Kidman ,Joey King and an ensemble cast.
Early life
editAlfred is a Malaysian-Indian, who was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 21st January 1994. His birth name was Alfred Soosai Arulnathan. As per the description provided by Alfred, his parents were school drop out and a working class couple, and he originated from a middle class family. He's the last child among his siblings consists of two elder brothers. In the year 2011, he completed his secondary school education. As a person who ambition to study Medical Science since his teenage years, he studied for Medical Laboratory Technology in a local university. In the year 2013, he dropped out from his college education for an undisclosed reason, and became a white-collar worker for years afterward.
Career
editAlfred developed a profound interest in the arts of making motion pictures and storytelling in the year 2012. Initially, he made an unsuccessful attempt to write a science fiction fantasy novel titled Paunus Of Thousand Years, which was left undeveloped during the the first draft of the manuscript. After reading the success story of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon on writing the screenplay of Good Will Hunting an interest to write screenplay for movies sparked in him. In the year 2013, he began to write his first screenplay titled The Trail's End, which was based on the infamous tale of Bonnie and Clyde. After spending two years he completed the screenplay in the year 2015. Yet, he did not intended to launch himself into the industry with a story that had famously told in the late 60's. But, as per the claim of Alfred, the screenplay of The Trail's End written by himself, share nothing much in common, and his screenplay is more historically accurate compared to the Oscar nominated and winning Bonnie and Clyde (film) which was released in the year 1967. In the year 2019, Alfred written the screenplay of the movie Verbena: Pray For Me, and the screenplay almost to be sold to the Warner Bros. Pictures, but eventually, the Covid-19 Global Pandemic interrupted the deal. In the year 2021, Alfred's screenplay purchased by A24 (company) studio, and made into an movie with an ensemble cast directed by Justin Baldoni.
Personal Life
editAlfred is a Malaysian-Indian, and his native language is originally Telugu. But, his ancestors discontinued the usage of the language for an unidentified reason, and adapted themselves to Tamil language. Despite being a Telugu native, Alfred able to speak, write, read and understand fluent Tamil. As a person originated from a Tamil speaking family, and studying in Tamil medium during the childhood, Alfred does find difficulty to speak, write, read and understand fluent English, in his early years.
