Early life and Education
editCassandra Casas Rojas was an active student at school, participating in dancing, cheerleading, and sports, and as she grew older, she took on leadership roles such as class president for two years and cheer captain. It wasn't until her junior year that she became curious about where her clothes were made, which sparked her interest in fashion. [5]
Since she did not realize she wanted to be a fashion designer right away, Cassandra was studying to be a neuron surgeon before deciding to move into fashion design. She got into fashion late, but once she realized she wanted to go to fashion school, she did everything she could to get into the greatest fashion schools. She didn't have much to offer the fashion school due to her late start, but she was able to collect a few paintings and drawings that she was proud of, and then she went to explore schools. She was recognized and even went as far as one semester abroad in Florence, Italy, four international fashion competitions, two wins in foreign countries from her designs, and top of her class at Kent State University. [6]
Work
editMost of Cassandra's work is brought to life through multi-functional clothing. Her creations include a jacket that converts to a backpack, another jacket that converts to a sleeping bag, which can then be transformed into a tent, and pants that transform into a backpack.
Her senior collection, with the theme of Global Nomadism, is another aspect of her work. She wanted to emphasize the importance of purpose in fashion with this collection. gLOBAL inspired her idea of incorporating the essential living necessities for a traveling lifestyle into everyday wear. Versatility was an important theme in the collections. She designed her entire collection to be versatile in order to provide her customers with items that can be paired together. While also giving people the option and freedom to wear her clothing in variety of ways.
Her entire work promotes empowerment, integrity and diversity. To demonstrate empowerment by standing together and supporting others in reaching their full and true potential. Uniqueness and one of a kind items are also available to anyone. Theres passion, respect, and creativity behind all of her creations to show her respect for her crafts and to allow others to be part of everything.
Her personal clothing site "CasasRojas" and other blogs not only discuss her creation but explains her stories and journey in the fashion world. Not only that, but she also provided a lot of information about her business and clothing, which she is very transparent. Including answering questions about how she manufactures her clothes, how she advertises for her products to people, to advice for young designers.
