Calculation of seedings
editThe coefficient is calculated by taking a weighted average of the coefficients of the UEFA Euro 2008, the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012. For the hosts, Ukraine and Poland, only
Coefficients are calculated by adding match points, earned by match results and bonus points earned by participating in certain rounds of the tournaments, and dividing the number of points by the number of matches played.
Match points
editPoints for matches are awarded as follows:
- 10,000 points guaranteed no matter the result
- 30,000 points for a win
- 10,000 points for a draw or a match decided by penalty shoot-out
- 501 points per goal scored (goals scored in a penalty shoot-out do not count towards this)
- −500 points per goal against (goals scored in a penalty shoot-out do not count towards this)
- 10,000 additional points for winning a penalty shoot-out
Bonus points
editBonus points for playing in certain rounds in tournaments are awarded as follows:
Tournament | Play-off match | Group stage-match | Round of 16-match | Quarter-final | Semi-final | Third place match | Final |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Euro | 6,000 | 9,000 | — | 18,000 | 28,000 | — | 38,000 |
World Cup | 6,000 | 6,000 | 9,000 | 18,000 | 28,000 | 18,000 | 38,000 |
These points are given per match played, no matter the result.

Andersen had stated that his goal was to be the first NFL player to play until he turns 50 in 2010.[42] However he retired December 8, 2008 – just two days after he would have become the oldest person ever to play in an NFL game, if he had gotten a contract. The record held by George Blanda still stands – Blanda played in his last NFL game on January 4, 1976 (the 1975 AFC Championship) at the age of 48 years, 109 days.
